Attention all students & community members! Are you looking for a fun and enjoyable way to get involved in your community this spring and summer? We're excited to announce that we're seeking volunteers for our 2024 events!

This is an incredible opportunity to meet new people, gain valuable experience, get your volunteer hours and make a positive impact on your community. Whether you're interested in helping out at the farmers market, rocking out at our music events, or getting creative with content creation, we have a role for you!

At Markham Village BIA, we believe that community is everything, and we're committed to creating engaging, inclusive, welcoming and exciting events for all to enjoy. By volunteering with us, you'll be part of a team that's dedicated to bringing our community together and making a positive difference.

Volunteer positions are open to people of all ages and previous experience is not required.


2024 Opportunities

  • Easter Event Prep (Thursday, March 28th 4pm - 7pm)
  • Meet the Easter Bunny (Saturday, March 30th, 2024 11am - 2pm)
  • Farmers Market (Every Saturday May 11th - October 12th 8am - 2pm)
  • Music on Main (Friday June 21st - Aug 30th 2pm - 5pm & 7pm - 10pm)
  • Main Street Trick or Treat (Saturday, October 26th 11am - 3pm)
  • Festival of Lights (Friday, November 30th 4pm - 11pm)


Location: Volunteer positions will take place on Main Street Markham with check-in located at 132 Robinson Street.

Most of our events are ‘rain or shine’ - please be prepared for all weather (hat, sunscreen, water, rain gear as needed). Full training provided. Please bring a refillable water bottle. Meals provided for shifts longer than 5 hours.


Duties Include:

  • Set up and tear down tents, weights, barricades, sound equipment, signage and misc items
  • Providing customer assistance & general information
  • Guide pedestrian traffic
  • Distribute promotional materials
  • Assisting vendors/musicians as needed
  • Performing/guiding Mascot duties
  • Visiting businesses to make content for our social media channels
  • Delivering posters/notices/flyers


Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Positive, helpful and professional attitude
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work well with others
